Rotary Botanical Gardens offers youth and adult education programs in conjunction with Rock County University of Wisconsin-Extension.  Programming includes seasonal elementary school programs, summer youth garden program, various symposia, workshops and lectures for the general public, as well as University of Wisconsin-Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program.

Additionally, Rotary Botanical Gardens aids in the facilitation of community gardens throughout Rock County.  These gardens are created with the cooperation of the area residents and are utilized to provide an educational space for youth, beautify neighborhoods, foster communication between residents, and create a locally grown food source.

Master Gardener Volunteers are available Tuesday afternoons, Labor Day through Memorial Day, to answer your garden related questions.  Please visit the visitors center during this time or call (608) 757-5696 and leave a message regarding your horticulture inquiry.  More details regarding diagnostic services can be found here.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are listed to aid Master Gardener Volunteers in recording for their continuing education requirements.

Please visit our Upcoming Events and Special Events pages for more happenings at the Gardens.

First Grade Program
May-June 2008

ATTENTION FIRST GRADE TEACHERS!  It's time for our Spring First Grade Program at Rotary Botanical Gardens.  Classes can now register for morning or afternoon sessions.

  1. Students and volunteer instructors interact using our DISCOVERY TABLES in order to learn the parts of a plant, how plants grow, how people use plants, and what parts of a plant we eat..
  2. You can’t have a trip to Rotary Botanical Gardens without a garden tour!  Students will be lead through the garden by a volunteer instructor and will be introduced to the SHAPES, COLORS, and TEXTURES throughout Rotary Botanical Gardens.
  3. In the grand finale, students will demonstrate HOW THE GARDEN GROWS by participating in our very popular imagination session.
